i was taken ill on oxford market and taken to a and e at the Radcliffe I was treated wonderfully and quickly the place was clean the staff were very attentive and treated me as though I was their only patient although I could tell that they were very busy I would also like to thank the ambulance crew that attended to me thank you.thankfully I was allowed home the same day and have now made a full recovery.
Excellent Hospital with organised and friendly staff who made a difficult day a lot easier to deal with.
I have received outstanding care from the combined efforts of Milton Keynes Neurological Department and the department of Neurosurgery at John Radcliffe Hospital.
Dr Butterworth at Milton Keynes Hospital was very thorough during the initial examination and my partner and I were very impressed at how promptly he organised scans and other referrals whilst keeping us fully informed each step of the way. His clear communication helped us in understanding the next steps and managing our expectations for the time ahead.
Once I was referred to John Radcliffe Mr Stewart Griffiths provided a very good explanation of the results of scans as well as the risks and other implications of the decisions that needed to be made. This helped us make quick decisions and allowed his team to get paperwork in place. I was visited on the ward by Dr Erlick Pereira and Dr Andrew Macdonald pre and post-surgery who were both exceptional in answering my queries and gave me a great deal of confidence that I am in safe hands.
The anaesthetist Dr Simon Raby is quite a charismatic chap who certainly made me feel comfortable and struck up a witty conversation to take my mind off things as I was being taken down to surgery.
Finally I must also thank the team of nurses who have been looking after me, they have all been really positive and friendly which is spurring me on to recover as quickly as possible.
Overall the whole team working so well together has made my stay comfortable.
All went well at the JR as an outpatient and inpatient.
They do need to sort out travel to and from!
As a nurse, I was really shocked at the care I recieved at the Woman's Centre on 31st October. I arrived for an outpatient hysteroscopy, but was advised to go to the ward. On arrival, I was told that I was having a General Anaesthetic by both the HCA and then the Senior Registrar. When I told them that I was told this was an OP Procedure and that I had been told specifically to eat and drink that morning, they had to go and check. Finally it was confirmed that I would have the procedure awake with no sedation - which was what I was expecting. I had at least 10 people in theatre with me, some were trainees, but very few introduced themselves. I then went through a very traumatic procedure that necessitated a Gynae Consultant to come into theatre, who never introduced herself. A Mirena Coil was inserted, but right from the outset I didn't think it was placed correctly. A week later, I've had to have the coil removed at my GPs Surgery and yesterday had to phone 111 and be seen by an emergency GP as I was bleeding so heavily. It seems that the traumatic procedure has given me an infection and I have been started on antibiotics and hormones to stop the bleeding. It has left me with very little confidence to go back to the John Radcliffe under the Gynaecology Team.
Both my kidneys are failing and I should have been panicking. Due to the excellent care I have received from the Oxford Renal Department, Milton Keynes, I am not stressed about my future prospect. I am in very good hands, thanks to the detailed stress free efficient care from Dr Ram and dis team, especially the reception staff, the PD dialysis nurses, etc. THANK YOU!
My comment apply to the renal unit only.
Right from the consultant through to the reception. I have toal confidence in the treatment I receive.
Would that A and E was able to give the same service.
I travelled quite a distance to get to my appointment which I thought would be an echocardiogram, ECG and checkup regarding HCM investigation. After a 5 minute consultation I was told I would need to come back for an MRI in two months time. I lost a days earnings, fuel and 5 hours in the car with a 7 month old child. I couldn't help but feel my case could have been dealt with over the phone / skype or at my GP surgery. I'm sure there's a better system that could be implemented in this modern technological age? Apart from that everything else went smoothly – VIVA la NHS. ;-)
John Radcliffe is a nice enough hospital, and I found the nursing & operating-theatre staff generally very helpful and caring and kind. I didn't have pleasant follow-up experience, though, and was treated with suspicion and rudeness (I don't why these particular persons chose to be nurses, if they treat people that way). Unfortunately, I know of plenty of other people reporting similar experiences with other staff there, and therefore there isn't any way that I could ever recommend this hospital to others. When staff don't seem to want to try to understand what you are experiencing, and instead, treat you like an idiot, it can be fairly stressful. In all fairness, I guess most people would be well treated at John Radcliffe, but I wouldn't advise going there if your condition is complex.
A VERY BUSY HOSPITAL BUT THEY HAVE NEVER LET ME DOWN...
ALWAYS PROFESSIONAL AND POLITE
CAR PARKING GOOD
GENERALLY CLEAN AND TIDY
